Description

Offered for sale is an antique induction coil electrical apparatus manufactured by John Ednie of Edinburgh University, Scotland, probably dating to the late 19th or early 20th century.  

This listing is for a single example, so when ordering please state which one you require:

Induction coils were widely used in physics laboratories and educational settings in order to demonstrate inter alia electromagnetic induction for experimental/teaching purposes.

This example is mounted on mahogany folding base and features:

• primary induction coil

• brass electrical terminals

• adjustable discharge contact

• original maker’s plaque on one of the examples

The item retains its original measuring scale and folding wooden base, allowing the instrument to be stored compactly.  Such instruments were commonly used in scientific instruction and laboratory demonstrations during the early development of electrical science.

Condition:

Good antique condition with normal wear consistent with the age of the items. 

The instruments appear complete with:

• original mahogany base

• induction coil

• brass terminals

Untested, assumed not working and therefore sold as a collectable antique scientific instrument/curio.

The instrument will be well wrapped and shipped by Royal Mail.
